Read a QR code from an image

The code is not in front of your camera but inside a screenshot, a photo or a PDF? Drop the file here — decoding happens in your browser, not on a server.

Screenshot, photo or PDF in one flow

Drag one or more files into the scan area, choose them from the file dialog, or paste a screenshot directly. The decoder renders the image into a canvas, upscales small codes and tests every supported symbology: QR, Data Matrix, Aztec, PDF417 and the common linear formats. Multiple files are processed one after another and listed individually.

For PDFs a screenshot of the page is enough. Codes on screens are often sharper as a screenshot than as a camera photo, because there is no motion blur or screen flicker. That is why image scanning is frequently faster than the camera for support, procurement and document checks.

How the scan works in three steps

Open the page on the device you want to scan with — phone, tablet or laptop — and press “Start camera”. The browser asks for camera permission once; nothing turns on without you. You can also drag an image into the drop zone or paste a screenshot straight from the clipboard.

Hold the code so that all four corners are visible, roughly 15–20 cm away, and avoid glare. Decoding starts automatically as soon as a supported symbology is found. For uploaded images the round trip is usually under a second.

The result is parsed into a readable card: a link with its domain, Wi-Fi credentials, a contact card, or a product number with its check digit. Copy a single field or everything, and open links only after you have checked the destination.

Finding several codes inside documents

Batch mode is built for goods-in and invoice checks: load up to ten images, get one result per file, copy the values together. The decoder returns one code per image; if a page holds several codes, crop the image first, since the first hit defines the result.

For lists with many serials, fix the label instead of the scanner: at least 15 mm edge length, a four-module quiet zone and a contrast ratio of 4:1 or better. Our label generator produces VDA, GS1 and shipping labels at exactly that quality.

FAQ

Perguntas frequentes

Can I scan a QR code from a screenshot?

Yes. Paste or upload it and the screenshot is decoded locally; the image never leaves your device.

Are PDFs supported directly?

Raster images in any common format are. For PDFs, screenshot the page or export it as an image — that keeps the browser bundle free of extra rendering libraries.

How many images can I scan at once?

Up to ten per run. Each file gets its own result with format and payload.

Why is a code not detected in my image?

Usually it is too small, blurry or partly covered. Crop the image, raise the resolution, or take a second screenshot.

Is the image scanner privacy-friendly?

Yes. There is no upload endpoint; the file is opened with FileReader and decoded in memory.
